Merced Insulation was founded in 2022 by a team that had spent years watching Merced homeowners pay high PG&E bills every summer — not because they were wasteful, but because their homes were built decades before anyone cared much about insulation standards. The bulk of Merced's housing stock dates from the 1950s through the 1980s, and those homes came with minimal coverage in the attic, little to nothing in the walls, and crawl spaces essentially open to outside air.

We started working in the older neighborhoods near downtown Merced and followed the city's growth out toward the newer subdivisions around UC Merced. The San Joaquin Valley climate is unforgiving — triple-digit heat from June through September, tule fog rolling in every winter, and clay soils that shift with the seasons. We size and select insulation products around those conditions, not generic national specs that ignore what homeowners here actually deal with.
